The Playground

Growing up in the Villa Victoria in South End, Boston, playgrounds were the ultimate highlight of my childhood.

 

My acrylic on canvas painting, The Playground, is an ode to the playgrounds that raised my friends and I.

​

I hope every witness to this painting finds familiarity within it and reconnects with their inner child. I want them to remember how free it felt for them to run against the wind.

 

A big thank you to the playgrounds that made me forget about growing up too fast, for being a childhood sanctuary, for letting me fly even when the world around me seemed to sink. 

 

A bigger thank you to Cassandra Rodriguez for capturing these moments on film. I had an amazing time connecting with Cass during this shoot, revisiting the play grounds that were the very inspiration for this painting.
